Stained Glass Windows at Maltby Congregational ChurchIn the church sanctuary and vestibule you can find three beautiful stained glass windows. Here is what they represent. |
Christ Bearer In memory of Christopher Monkman A Dove is representing the Holy Spirit given to believers. The Alpha (beginning) and The Omega (end), a name for God in the little banner. Jesus' Hand with Wounds reaching to us who need Him. An Eagle. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles...." from Isaiah River of Life. A river flowing from the throne of God as spoken of in Revelation or the "well of water springing up" that Jesus gives. A Child's Hand full of Dandelions offering them to God. Our offerings show the love in our hearts though ultimately we offer back to Him what he has given to us. The window was donated in memory of Christopher who died at the age of 6. He was often to be seen picking and delivering His bouquets to people he loved. The Child's name is written in Greek: Christ Bearer. God calls us to take up our cross and follow Him! Wild Flowers of the Field in the foreground reminding us to take no thought for our clothing. The Lord knows we have need. Red Anemones may be the flowers that covered the hillsides of Palestine. Lilies of the Valley in foreground are a symbol of the purity and sweetness of Mary (the Immaculate Conception). |
![]() Creation In memory of Corbett Stewart The Circle at the top is a symbol of the unchanging God. The Cloudlike Angels below him worship him. The Creation below shows his handiwork. The River Flowing from the Throne of God to give life to His children through the ages. The 4 Dogwoods represent the 4 gospels. Dogwoods are 4 petaled in the form of a cross. 3 Purple Iris symbolize the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Purple is the symbolic color of truth, constancy and fidelity; the Iris, is the sword lily in Latin speaking of Mary's suffering at the Crucifixion. 7 White Lilies: 7 for completion; white for purity and innocence; Lilies for purity, innocence and immortality. 3 Red Anemones: 3 for the Trinity; Anemones, believed to be the Biblical "lilies of the field' traditionally said to have miraculously sprung up at the foot of the cross. A symbol of mourning. |
![]() The Tree Of Life In memory of Wilma Avalo. Now it has become in memory of both Wilma and Emanuel Avalo. Psalm 1. A fruitful tree planted by streams of water, whose leaf does not wither is compared to the life of a righteous man. The two intertwined roses in the foreground to represent their love. There is a Cross Shadow under the tree showing the roots of the prosperous life actually springing from Christ's sacrifice. He is the water of life for us too! |
